Development of radio technologies in public lighting act as a facilitator for Smart City.
Citylone, expert in public lighting management, has selected two radio protocols which answer the needs of collectivites regarding public lighting management. Theses two protocols are normed and allow to work with products from other manufacturers to get integrated in a whole ecosystem.

LoRaWAN technology allows a low power radio communication, of low energy consumption objects, which communicate according to the LoRaWAN protocol (standardised) and connected to the network throught gateways.
LoRaWAN range is aimed to collectivites who wish to implement a full supervision of the city : once the LoRaWAN network deployed, you can get on the same network, sensors from different activites which collect information.
Bi-directional communication is made from one lighting point or from one cabinet to the antenna (star communication) . Antenna then send information on the could in 4G, fiber… Datas are collected to be treated by the server (core network) which can also collect other sensors using the same protocol (garbage, parkings…). Supervision allows to follow public lighting functionning and to be able to manage it remotly : programming, history, consumptions management, maintenance optimization… All products can be parametered locally through Bluetooth with a free application on Android and iOs.
Wirepas technology allows a decentralized radio communication : objects are connected together and relay information till an external communication gateway.
This technology allows to get all the advantages of connected PLC technology on a radio technology. It allows also to work with medium voltage network or collect informations from battery powered sensors.
Communication is made between all the equipments (mesh communication mesh) then through a Wirepas gateway; it then transfers the information on the cloud in 4G, fiber… Mesh communication allows to make dynamic detections, with each point sending information to its neighbours during a detection. Furthermore, if a point is defective, the network reoganize itslef automatically to find a new way to communicate.
